Eight Signs Your Spouse Might Be Cheating

One of the most devastating experiences anyone can have is infidelity in a marriage. Often, when infidelity is discovered, it has been going on for far longer than the betrayed spouse could have imagined. If you have a nagging feeling that something isn’t right in your marriage, there are a few telltale indications to watch for if you suspect cheating. If you feel your boyfriend is cheating on you, keep an eye out for the following significant behaviors and symptoms.

Enhancement of Appearance

If your partner has suddenly become more concerned with their looks, it could signify that they’re attempting to impress someone else. Constant upkeep of their appearance, a sudden haircut change, or a sudden fascination with going to the gym are all symptoms to look for. A more particular warning flag is if your partner begins to pay more attention to their underwear and chooses more stylish or appealing pairs than they typically would.

Unexpected interests or hobbies

This could be a red flag in your marriage if your spouse suddenly develops interests or activities that they would not have otherwise. A cheating spouse may feel as if they are in the honeymoon phase of a new relationship, which leads to a desire to learn about the interests and hobbies of the person they are cheating with. You should pay careful attention to your spouse’s actions if they refuse to let you participate in the hobbies and activities they are interested in.

Electronic Use That Isn’t Public

Secretive electronic use is one of the first signs of marital problems. If your spouse is cheating on you, they will begin to use their computer and cell phone more discreetly around you. Changes in passcodes and passwords that prevent you from accessing their electronic devices are red flags.

It can also be problematic if you find your spouse carrying their phone around with them at all times. If your partner is continually texting without giving you a rational or profitable reason for who or why, you should be concerned.

Your Sexual Life Has Changed

Changes in your sex life can come in a variety of shapes and sizes. You may notice, for example, that your husband is either extremely sexual with you or completely avoids sexual closeness with you. A spouse who becomes overly affectionate in the bedroom may attempt to make up for their adultery by demonstrating the love they believe should be focused on you. Another cause for concern is if your partner suddenly wants to try new sexual activities with you or acts differently regarding sexual intimacy than they usually do.

They Hold You and/or Your Relationship Responsible

A cheating spouse will frequently attempt to blame their partner and/or the relationship to excuse their behavior. The blame game can take many forms, ranging from personal attacks to random allegations. A cheating spouse will frequently avoid taking responsibility for their actions in a marriage, instead of blaming their partner or the relationship. Simple disagreements can often escalate into heated debates. During these types of disputes, it is usual for a cheating spouse to make harsh or unfair charges. A cheating spouse may see this as an opportunity to vent their rage, in addition to diverting blame for their adultery. They know their acts are harmful.

Changes in Their Normal Routine and Schedule

This could be a warning flag if you observe a sudden shift in your partner’s schedule or typical routine. For instance, if your partner is suddenly staying late for work longer or more frequently than normal, this could be cause for concern. Some cheating spouses may also go out earlier or stay out later than usual, sharing very little information regarding their whereabouts. A cheating spouse will begin to change their typical schedule or routine in order to accommodate the person they are cheating with.

There’s a rift between you and their friends or family

Frequently, the person who is being cheated on is the last to learn about the infidelity in the marriage. A cheating spouse is likely to tell a close friend or perhaps a group of friends about their infidelity. If you observe your spouse’s friends acting strangely around you, it could be a hint that he or she has confessed their adultery to you. In many friendship dynamics, people who are aware of adultery in a marriage will not alert the cheated-on spouse. Instead, you might notice strange looks or awkward conversations coming your way. When you and your spouse are out with your pals in a social situation, these strange encounters can be amplified.

Money Problems

If your spouse is cheating on you, money problems are another aspect that will come into play. If you start to notice unexpected charges or large sums of money vanishing from your bank account, it could be a sign of infidelity. It’s quite difficult for a spouse to conceal spending from their partner, especially if the couple’s finances are shared. Some spouses may try to hide their financial activities by withdrawing huge sums of money so that the other partner is unaware of their spending habits. You might start to notice strange expenses at places, restaurants, or stores that you don’t usually visit as a couple.
